Leadership opportunity: Chair of The Convenor and Tribunal Board
The Convenor and Tribunal Board is looking to recruit a new Chair of the Board, the independent body that supports the Office of the Children’s Convenor and the Child Youth and Community Tribunal. It consists of up to eight members, one of whom holds the position of Chair.
The Board provides leadership, direction, support and guidance to ensure the System delivers its collective functions effectively and efficiently, and Members work closely and collaboratively with the Children’s Convenor and President of the Tribunal, providing advice and support as required.
It is also responsible for liaising closely with Deputies and Civil Servants as part of the wider child welfare system to ensure that the Children’s Convenor, President of the Tribunal and the Child, Youth and Community Tribunal have the resources they need to carry out their duties in accordance with the Law.
Appointed by the Committee for Health & Social Care on the recommendation of the current Board, the Chair must have knowledge and experience relevant to the functions of the System and will hold their position for an initial period of three years.
While ensuring that the Children’s Convenor and President of the Tribunal have the resources available to perform their statutory functions, the Chair is directly responsible for leading Board meetings (up to six per annum) and making sure that the Board undertakes its duties effectively.
