Safeguarder Service (now called the Family Proceedings Advisory Service (FPAS))

The Safeguarder Service has been operating in Guernsey since 2006 and for some time before that as the Court Welfare Service. The primary function of the service is to safeguard and promote the welfare of a child in any family proceedings by giving advice to a relevant Court, the Child Youth and Community Tribunal or Children’s Convenor. The Safeguarder Service is independent and is staffed by experienced Social Workers.

The Youth Justice Service

The Youth Justice Service was set up in 1998 with the intention of reducing the risk of young people offending and re-offending.

The Youth Justice Service is made up of social workers who work with young people aged 10 to 18 who have committed or may be at risk of committing an offence. They provide support and specialist services to young people to prevent further involvement in criminal activities and create opportunities for young people to remain valued members of their community.

Action for Children

Based in Guernsey, Action for Children is part of Action for Children Guernsey Youth Housing project. They engage with and motivate young people aged 16-25 years who may have lost the hope or confidence to achieve employment or independence. By working with individuals, Action for Children encourage social and employment skills by offering young people knowledge, experience and support. They seek to encourage young people to discover the strengths they already possess and to develop new skills and self-belief.
