Changes to Hearings of the Child Youth and Community Tribunal (CYCT) in response to Coronavirus

Following the change in circumstances announced by the Director of Public Health on 20 and 21 March we have reviewed our plans to control the impact of the Coronavirus.  The Children’s Convenor has today decided to cancel all non-urgent hearings of the CYCT scheduled to take place between 23 March 2020 and Friday 3 April 2020. The Children’s Convenor will review on a daily basis whether it is necessary to cancel any hearings beyond these dates.

If this affects you, a member of our team will be in touch to let you know that your hearing has been cancelled.

Urgent and time critical hearings such as those arranged for the annual review of a Care Requirement and hearings arranged to consider whether or not to make an Interim Care Requirement will still go ahead as planned.

A hearing of the CYCT held on 23 March 2020, made the decision to excuse all persons from attending hearings in person that are due to take place between 23 March and 20 April 2020. We will be making contact with all persons due to attend hearings during this period to discuss how we can ensure they are able to take part in the hearing remotely. This is likely to be by telephone however we will be exploring other methods over the next few days.

We are following the advice given on social distancing for all hearings that are taking place.

If you are due to attend a hearing and have any questions please contact us on Tel: 213290, or Mobile 07839 266 095 or by email [email protected]

Thank you for your continued understanding.
