Returning to face to face Hearings of the Child, Youth & Community Tribunal

As we are moving through the phases of exit from lockdown we are exploring when and how we resume face to face Hearings of the CYCT.

The impact of Covid 19 has meant that we are currently holding Hearings and Convenor meetings remotely by telephone conference call. We have started to plan our return to business as usual however we must ensure that we do this safely and in line with the States of Guernsey guidance.  This will take some time as we work out how we adapt our premises for social distancing.

This means that from 15th June we will be operating a hybrid approach to Hearings with a mix of physical and remote attendance.

We will be operating as a “controlled area” which means that if you attend a Hearing or meeting we will ask you for your name and contact telephone number.  These details will be provided to the Public Health team in the event that a positive Covid 19 case is associated with our staff or premises.

We would like to thank all of the children and young people who have taken part in Hearings by telephone during the lockdown.  You have shown great resilience in adapting to the ever changing circumstances and new ways of doing things.  Your views, wishing and feelings play a vital part in the decisions that we make.

We will also be taking the opportunity to learn from our experiences over the last three months. If you have taken part in a Hearing by telephone we would love to hear your views.  You can contact us via email [email protected] or 213290.
